The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival kicked off with a 40th anniversary celebration Tuesday.
The festival, which is held at Prospect Park, began with a gala dedicated to outgoing BRIC president Leslie Schultz. Schultz has been the head of the organization for more than a decade and received an award for her service. The award stated that Schultz took the festival's programming and revenue to new heights during her tenure.
The night was also special because BRIC commissioned an art piece that will light up the bandshell lawn all summer as a way to commemorate the festival's 40th anniversary. The piece was created by Peruvian artist Grimanesa Amoros to light up the night for hundreds of concertgoers this season.
There will be a total of 31 concerts at the bandshell and 25 of them will be free to the public. Here are the
artists who will be performing in Prospect Park this summer.
