Pride Week celebrations underway in Brooklyn
Hundreds of people headed to Fifth Avenue for the annual Pride Festival Saturday.
Food vendors, games and performances were featured at the event meant to celebrate diversity and show support for the LGBTQ community.
This year, a strong message of support came from the healthcare community including the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. They're kicking off a program to help deliver and make healthcare accessible for elderly LGBTQ people.
The New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was also at the event, providing free health screenings and a safe space for all identities.
The day kicked off with a 5K run through Prospect Park, and the festivities will continue into the evening.
The Brooklyn Pride Parade will start Saturday night at Lincoln Place and Fifth Avenue.
