Annual Purple People Party pays tribute to Prince

New Yorkers gathered at Restoration Plaza in Bed-Stuy Saturday to pay tribute to a music legend.
It marked the third annual Purple People Plaza to honor Prince. It was held just a few days after the late artist's birthday.
The event is Spike Lee's annual celebration of Prince, and it brings the community together with food, music and dancing. People donned purple hats, shirts and other items to celebrate the music icon.
For Lee, memories of Prince are personal -- he worked with the music legend years ago.
Prince died in 2016. Last Thursday would have marked his 60th birthday.
Some people who came out to Saturday’s event got a chance to be in an episode of Spike Lee's TV series "She's Gotta Have It."
