Police search for 2 accused of attacking South Brunswick officer

Police in Middlesex County are searching for two people accused of attacking an officer during a traffic stop.
South Brunswick police say a detective pulled over Alan Fratello Jr. and his passenger, Jacqueline Smith, for allegedly driving erratically.
During the stop, police say Fratello grabbed the detective’s tie and started to drive away, briefly pulling along the officer. The detective was able to break free and was not injured, according to police.
Investigators say Fratello and Smith were already wanted for unrelated offenses. They were driving in a 2016 gray Kia Sorrento with handicapped license plates.
Anyone who may have more information about the incident should contact South Brunswick police at 732-329-4646.
