Atlantic Ticket test ride seems popular so far

City transportation officials joined local leaders to promote the MTA's new Atlantic Ticket discount program Friday, and commuters seem to be on board with the plan.
As News 12 has reported, the Atlantic Ticket offers sharply discounted Long Island Rail Road tickets for travel between three stations in Brooklyn and seven in Queens.
Commuters like Garry Cummings, of Bushwick, say they prefer to take the railroad over the subway or a bus. He says the ride is more comfortable, and he'd rather wait for a train at Atlantic Terminal than stand outside at a bus stop.
The new program offers one-way rides between Atlantic Ticket stations for $5 -- down from more than $10.
Currently, it's just a temporary trial run as officials mull whether it should become a permanent offering.
