Workers get back stolen wages

Construction workers are claiming victory after they got back the money that was stolen from them.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez offered a check to the workers, saying it was time to right a wrong after the Department of Investigation looked into the wage theft.
"I had received a tip about the Urban Group stealing wages from employees," says Gonzalez. "And with this small amount of workers that you see here today, the company stole over $300,000."
The DA's office says the company was awarded contracts to work on schools in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The workers say when they first realized they were getting less money than they were told, they figured nothing could be done since some of the workers are undocumented.
Gonzalez says the construction company pleaded guilty to grand larceny for underpaying the employees and stealing the difference. The company will be banned from city contracts for five years.
