Two former Bronx college basketball stars are still on the court this summer, hoping to get closer to playing professional ball in the United states.
George Beamon was an all-conference star who attended Manhattan College. He played professionally in England last season, and has NBA dreams within his grasp.
"I think about that every night. It's my dream, I pray about it all the time, just keep working towards it," says Beamon. "I think I'm right there with some of the top guys, but just got to keep showing it, keep proving it, keep working, try to catch somebody's eye."
Ryan Rhoomes is a fellow Bronx athlete who received all-conference honors at Fordham University. Since, he has played professionally in France and Brazil.
With their seasons over, both are using the summer to improve their skills. They recently participated in a Manhattan showcase that puts them up against players looking for their next opportunity.
