Police: Woman's arm severed in Sunset Park; husband likely suspect

Police say a woman's arm was severed Thursday in Sunset Park and that her husband is believed to be the culprit.
EMS responded to a call reporting the incident at 523 55th St. around 12:20 p.m.
Police say the 35-year-old woman's right arm was severed above the elbow and that two fingers were cut off from her left hand. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. She's expected to survive.
Police say a knife was recovered inside the couple's home. They say the woman's 31-year-old husband is believed to be responsible, but he has not yet been found or arrested.
Officers conducted door-to-door interviews with the couple's neighbors, who said they were shocked to hear of the incident.
News 12 learned Thursday night that the victim was pregnant. The condition of her unborn child was not immediately known.
