Marine Park residents are calling for changes at an intersection they say has become dangerous.
Incidents at the corner of Avenue V and Coleman Street have become a common sight for those who live nearby. Four crashes have happened so far this year, according to police statistics.
Cars attempting to turn through the intersection are forced to pull up far in order to see oncoming traffic past cars parked on Avenue V.
But residents say part of the problem is that motorists are parking in areas that are actually a no standing zone, blocking others' line of sight.
One resident says traffic coming from the Kings Plaza Mall only makes things worse.
"This a major intersection now because of all the stores that are being built and the mall across the street," says Stuart Heier. "They don't want to pay the $3 to park in the mall, so they look for parking around here."
Locals may get their wish. The Department of Transportation says it plans to install a traffic signal at the intersection this coming fall.
