SHEEPSHEAD BAY -

A man is in critical condition Wednesday after police say he struck multiple parked cars while driving at a high rate of speed.

The incident happened at outside of Ocean Avenue between Avenue S and T around 2:15 a.m.

Police say the 24-year-old man was driving a white colored Audi when he struck multiple parked cars at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses told police the man was driving very fast in a northbound direction.

The 24-year-old driver eventually came to a stop in front of 2388 Ocean Ave. and was transported to Lutheran Hospital in very critical condition, police say.

Surveillance video from a nearby home shows the moment the speeding car crosses the center line and barrels into parked cars.

Neighbors say speeding has been a big problem on the road for many years.

No other people were injured during the incident.
