SUNSET PARK -

Police are searching for a sexual predator who forced his way into a Sunset Park apartment and raped a woman.

Police have been combing through surveillance video in the area to locate images of the suspect.

News 12 Brooklyn is told that the man knocked on an apartment door in a complex at 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue at 1 a.m. Friday. When a woman answered, the man allegedly forced his way into her room, where he pulled out a gun, demanded cash and raped her.

Officials say the man tied up her arms with a sweater and escaped with $500. The woman was able to free herself and called 911.

Authorities describe the suspect as an Asian man in his 30s and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with tattoos on his left arm.

They say he was last seen carrying a messenger bag.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
