The Formula E Championship race for electric-powered cars returned to New York City for its second annual event this weekend.
Drivers from all over the world gathered in Red Hook Friday to prepare for the race.
The championship is held at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, where 10 teams and 20 drivers face off for the title.
The drivers strap into their single-seat electric engines and navigate a 14-turn circuit around Pier 11 and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, all while just inches away from each other.
Each car has the same battery, but every team uses different software to recharge the batteries. Drivers tell News 12 that the difference between cars is all about the strategy and who has the best software.
The final race of the championship takes place on Sunday, where another winner will take the title.
