Comic book signing benefits Puerto Rico recovery

A Brooklyn-based comic book artist held a signing Wednesday in Williamsburg with the goal of honoring and helping Puerto Rico as it continues recovering from the devastating Hurricane Maria.
The signing at BK Wearhouse was for "Ricanstruction: Reminiscing & Rebuilding Puerto Rico," a comic book anthology by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez. It features his Puerto Rican superhero La Borinquena, who symbolizes female empowerment and inclusivity.
Fans bought copies of the anthology as part of a fundraiser for which 100 percent of the proceeds will be going toward Puerto Rico. The receiving organizations were chosen by Miranda-Rodriguez and his wife.
In September, Miranda-Rodriguez and his team will head to Puerto Rico on the one-year anniversary of the hurricane to donate the proceeds and help with recovery.
