MTA blames miscommunication for D, N, R delays near Sunset Park

Commuters in Bay Ridge and Sunset Park met unexpected delays as they tried to begin the work week.
The MTA blamed a miscommunication for Monday's fiasco.
Track work began on the N train express tunnel between 59th Street and 36th Street Monday, officials say, forcing the N express to operate on the local track. But due to internal miscommunication, D, N and R trains converged on a single track at the height of rush hour.
Compounding the issue were the MTA's website and app, which listed service as "good." And officials also said they failed to post a service advisory early enough.
NYC Transit Chief Customer Officer, Sarah Meyers wrote in a statement, "We deeply apologize for our significant errors today and know that we need to do better. We are working through our policies and procedures to ensure this does not happen again."
The tunnel rehabilitation project is expected to take a year, and the N express train will continue to run on the local line until work is completed in July 2019.
