Training at Limitless Fitness in Howard Beach, Canarsie's Luis Collazo says he’s ready to get back into the ring.
The 37-year-old former world champion who is originally from Williamsburg says he is ready.
"I'm just grateful to be back. Being around positive people, a positive environment helped me a lot and showed the will, and here I am," Collazo says.
His upcoming fight Saturday is against Bryant Perrella, a fighter eight years younger than him.
But one edge that Collazo has he says is experience.
"Boxing is a competitive sport, and you want to fight the best, and I've been competing with the best for the last 17 years and i'm still performing at my best," he says.
Because of a torn bicep, Collazo says he hasn't been back in the ring in 18 months. But he says the rehab was tough but the good news is he's come back stronger than before.
"I just want to stay healthy and remain healthy as far as I can. I'm just focused on my career and my spirituality and just having fun doing it," Collazo says.
Collazo fights out on Long Island Saturday night.
