Brooklyn leaders fight limit on ride-hailing vehicles

Brooklyn business owners and leaders are calling on the city to not consider legislation that would put a cap on the number of vehicles driving for ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft.
Part of the concern comes from the looming shutdown of the L train, after which leaders say it "will be as if an economic tsunami was hitting the neighborhood." Others say they're concerned about how they would get home safely from bars and other venues throughout North Brooklyn.
The city is moving to cap the number of vehicles driving for services like Uber and Lyft in an effort to address congestion and low driver wages.
"The administration believes the council's approach is the most holistic way to help drivers support their families and to address congestion," a city spokesperson told News 12 in a statement.
