2 burglars caught on camera at Elmont Jewish Center

Police are searching for two burglars who were caught on camera breaking into the Elmont Jewish Center last weekend.
In the video, two men are seen walking in the center’s hallway with a clear shot of their faces. The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 4.
Police believe the suspects got into the building by breaking in through the door or by going through a window on the roof.
While inside, the suspects damaged the air conditioning unit and they also cut the wires to the surveillance system.
“This is thousands of dollars in terms of wiring this place with roughly 50-75 cameras,” said Bruce Schneider, the chairman of the board for the Jewish center.
He says he's relieved that religious items weren’t stolen or damaged and the center will be able to prepare as usual for the High Holidays.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the break-in to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
