Youngsters lace up for 3-mile fitness challenge in Belmont

Youngsters from the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club laced up their sneakers Tuesday take part in a 3-mile fitness challenge.
It's the first time the young members ages 5 to 18 took part in walking 12 times around the block with water bottles and signs of encouragement.
Officials say the idea of the walk is to help promote a healthy lifestyle for the kids.
Parents pay $5 for the program for the year. The kids get to participate in activities ranging from after-school programs to mentoring programs.
Organizers say the event, which was a fundraiser, will help keep enrollment affordable for the community.
