An investigation is underway after a man lost control of his SUV, slammed into several parked cars and died.
It happened around 11:40 p.m. Monday in front of 470 DeKalb Ave.
Responding officers say they found a 56-year-old man behind the wheel unconscious and unresponsive. He was rushed to Woodhall Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they believe he suffered some sort of medical episode prior to the crash, but are waiting on the Medical Examiner for further details.
Investigators say their preliminary reports show that he was driving a 2018 Ford Escape headed westbound on DeKalb Avenue approaching the intersection of Kent Avenue when he lost control and crashed into several parked cars.
The driver has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
