A bus tour in East Flatbush highlighted Caribbean culture Thursday as a festive precursor to the J'Ouvert festival. 

The tour, organized by the Brooklyn Arts Council, started at the Brooklyn Museum and made its way to Central Brooklyn.

The stops on the tour displayed food, music and exotic costumes associated with J'Ouvert. 

The organizers say the tour is meant to expose people to the Caribbean celebration.

They also say it's especially important to highlight the positive cultural aspects of the event in light of the violence that's tarnished it in recent years.
