A Paterson woman says that she is tired of waiting for the police to stop prostitutes from coming to her neighborhood, so she’s taken the matter into her own hands.
Cheryl Holman says that prostitutes and drug users are often out near the corner of Van Houten Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson. She says she has called police many times, but they do not often come because they are dealing with bigger crimes.
Holman says she made her own signs that say “Just say no to prostitution” and posted them around the area.
“I’m looking for the city to address this long issue…this has been going on for 40 years. Forty years is too long,” she says.
Holman says that she has even confronted the prostitutes and their customers. She says that she plans on buying more signs.
