BROOKLYN -

Youth Fest 2018 is showcasing rising stars from throughout the tri-state area as part of the West Indian American Day Carnival.

The event gives people ages 12 to 22 the chance to perform, including 14-year-old Kamiyah Parchment.

Parchment says she hopes to spread a positive message to kids in the audience who look up to her.

Many who took part say they're looking forward to this weekend's grand finale, the West Indian American Day Carnival.
