Park dedicated to NYS trooper, marine who died while serving in Iraq

An unnamed park in East Windsor has been dedicated to a former Marine and New York State trooper.
Captain John McKenna IV was killed while serving in Iraq in 2006. His name will now live on at a small park near his family home on East Second Street.
Many neighbors turned out for the unveiling of "Captain John McKenna IV Park."
They all listened as his father remembered his son:
"Tell it loud and tell it clear how a red-headed, green-eyed Irish lad born on St. Patrick's Day grew up in this neighborhood," John McKenna III said. "A young man who made others laugh, who died as he lived helping others and became a local hero."
The park was cleaned up and replanted this year by volunteers from a local Boy Scout troop.
