Elected officials are vowing to crack down after a recent rash of suspected synthetic marijuana overdoses in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The most recent incidents occurred Saturday in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Jefferson Street, where police tell News 12 five people overdosed on the drug, also known as K2. All five were hospitalized in stable condition. 

Officials say it's time to put the issue to bed once and for all. They emphasize that it's important to target drug traffickers and dealers and to not shame drug users.

Multiple outbreaks have been reported over the last few years in that area, some involving dozens of people. It's considered by many to be the epicenter of the borough's K2 epidemic.
