Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks where nearly 3,000 people died when hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.

Thousands of victims’ relatives, survivors, rescuers, and others are expected at today’s ceremony at the World Trade Center.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will be visiting the 9/11 memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says flags at government buildings will be flown at half-staff today in remembrance of the lives lost during 9/11.

Cuomo released a statement saying in part, “On Sept. 11, 2001, the lives of countless Americans were forever changed in an instant at thousands of innocent men, women, and children perished in the deadliest terror attack this nation has ever seen.”
