FDNY firefighter celebrates 100th birthday

The New York Fire Department came together Wednesday to celebrate a major life milestone for one of their own.
John Nasta celebrated his 100th birthday with fellow firefighters in Bay Ridge. He served more than 30 years with the FDNY.
Nasta took a short break to enlist in the Navy during World War II before returning to fighting fires. He worked his way up from probationary officer to battalion chief.
"You couldn't have a better boss, a better fireman, and you always felt safe when you were with him," says retired Deputy Chief Roland Gorton.
The Uniformed Fire Officers Association presented Nasta with a lifetime achievement award.
