SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine (AP) - They still end up being cooked in boiling hot water - but perhaps these lobsters may be a little more chill about it.
A lobster pound in Maine is toying with the idea of using marijuana to ease the trauma of lobsters destined for dinner plates.
Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound in Southwest Harbor is owned by a registered medical marijuana caregiver.
And she put a test lobster in a box with some water - and blew pot smoke into the box. She tells TV station WMTW the crustacean was calmer for the next three weeks.
It was released into the ocean, which no doubt eased its little lobster mind even further. This all may be just a matter of blowing smoke - literally and figurately. It's unclear how pot affects the lobsters' behavior or taste.
