Man allegedly throws young brother from Brooklyn roof, faces murder charge
A 20-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested Saturday after allegedly throwing his 4-year-old brother from the roof of their Nostrand Avenue apartment building in East Midwood.
Sean Smith was taken into custody by police after his brother Shimron Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
He faces a second-degree murder charge.
News 12 sources say Sean Smith may have been dealing with a mental illness. When he was asked by reporters if he meant to hurt his brother, he responded, “not really.”
Mourners have placed a vigil to the boy outside the family’s apartment.
