Police: ‘Armed and dangerous’ suspect apprehended in Brooklyn

Officials say the man accused of shooting at police officers in upstate New York and robbing a Brooklyn smoke shop at gunpoint was apprehended Monday.
Joshua Stuart, 42, was found outside of a Whole Foods at Third Avenue and Third Street in Gowanus.
Witnesses say he jumped into the shoreline behind the store while trying to get away from police, which is where he was caught by responding officers.
Officials say the chase began when a person spotted Stuart and recognized him from photos released by police.
Stuart had been wanted for allegedly shooting at officers Friday in Ellenville, in Ulster County, according to police.
Investigators say he then made his way to Brooklyn and robbed a Third Avenue smoke shop at gunpoint just before 8:40 a.m. Monday. Stuart is said to have stolen an employee's wallet containing $50 and a credit card.
The employee was reportedly not injured during the incident.
Video given to News 12 shows the suspect walking with the officers in handcuffs.
News 12 Brooklyn was told that Stuart has been taken to the 68th Precinct Monday night.
