The B82 Select Bus service launched in Bensonhurst Monday to mixed reviews from riders.
The new bus services 28,000 riders and is routed from Bensonhurst to Coney Island.
Riders say that they were confused after being turned away for not having a paper ticket.
"I didn't know I had to buy the ticket at all," says one rider. "I already have a MetroCard."
MTA workers were stationed at bus stops to explain the new fare system to riders.
Residents now have to get their ticket before they board by putting their MetroCard into one of the ticket stations.
Other new measures include all-door boarding and dedicated bus lanes, which the MTA says will shorten travel times.
"The Select Bus is a great idea because it cuts down on the long stops," says another rider.
Some local business owners say they're concerned about losing parking spots to the bus lane.
The city's DOT says it has amended sections of the bus lane and added parking spots after extensive meetings with the community.
