Riverdale residents call on city to fix roads

People living in a small subsection of Riverdale say they’ve been stuck fixing their own roads, and they want the city to do something about them.
Bumps and holes can be seen near the intersection of West 249th Street and Arlington Avenue, as well as Independence Avenue.
Resident Vikram Patel says this is because the city considers a lot of streets to be assigned to the properties.
Patel says, "Neighbors on the street have contributed money to fix it back in late 2000, but we cannot redo the whole road."
A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation says that as an ongoing effort to improve safety, the department will offer repair services for potholes or street defects if the potholes are reported.
They say this includes sections of road not under their jurisdiction.
