The annual Tour de Bronx took place Sunday across the borough.
The free event hosted by Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. takes participants to the hidden gems of the Bronx.
The tour consists of two different paths of 25 and 40 miles. This year was the first time that the tour was done on bikes.
The event ended at the Botanical Gardens where participants were given free pizza while enjoying live music.
Bronx residents say it proves a new perspective of their borough.
"The rhetoric about the Bronx is not too good," one resident said. "Everybody looks at it as a downtrodden place but it's really nice when you get out here and you actually see for yourself."
