New York City is launching a new campaign in an effort to combat gun violence with a much different angle than past efforts.
The Peace NYC Campaign is using social media to draw interest from young people in the community.
Getting involved simply takes logging on to the website, uploading a photo, entering where you are from and then sharing it on any social platform with the hashtag #PeaceNYC.
The hope is that younger people will see their peers standing up to gun violence. Organizers say using peers and social media will reach the youth like older people simply cannot.
Organizers hope celebrities who are popular among the demographic will get involved as well.
