Off-duty officer attacked in Sheepshead Bay while walking dog

An off-duty police officer was attacked in Sheepshead Bay Thursday.
The incident happened just before 9 a.m. Police tell News 12 that the officer, who was not in uniform, was walking his dog near Williams Court and East 11th Street when his attacker approached him.
Police say the 29-year-old officer was approached by a suspect who threatened him in Russian, saying something along the lines of, "I'm going to kill you."
Police say the officer speaks Russian and understood what was said, but didn't understand the motivation because he doesn't know the suspect.
Officials say the suspect proceeded to hit him in the head and the face, fracturing his cheekbone and causing several cuts to his face and head. The suspect then took off.
The officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition and has since been released.
The suspect is described as in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, about 170 pounds and has blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a tan sweater.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
