Food pantry partners with community service organization to recruit volunteers

Volunteers at a food pantry in Bedford-Stuyvestant were hard at work Monday during the Veterans Day holiday.
The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger food pantry partnered with community service organization Repair the World to recruit a dozen volunteers to help customers, unpack food and more.
More than 30,000 low-income residents visit the food pantry every week. Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger workers say the demand at the food pantry goes up by 30 to 40 percent during November and December due to the holidays.
The pantry serves special food during the holidays, including cranberry sauce and gravy.
Gina Washington, who has a family of 12, says she doesn't know what she would do without the volunteers helping her feed her family during the holidays.
