A class-action lawsuit was filed against two nursing homes Tuesday night, including one in Brooklyn.
Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Coney Island and Bay Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in the Bronx were hit with the suits that claim they are putting patients in danger with a lacking amount of staff.
Walter Chow is fighting for his brother as the plaintiff in the case.
"I think if more and more people allow this stuff to be swept under the rug, these kind of abuses continue," says Chow.
He says their alleged abuses led to his brother's death.
Chow claims every time he came to visit his brother, he would find him lying in filth. He says nursing staff told him patients were only allowed a shower once every two weeks to prevent falling.
News 12 tried getting in touch with the nursing homes, and the company that oversees them. A spokesperson with the Bronx home would only say they provide quality care.
Neighbor Bobby Hayden says he has seen staff protesting with signs and heard complaints of two nurses for every 24 patients.
