For almost 25 years, a Brooklyn organization has been helping refugees adjust to new lives in America.

The Arab-American Family Support Center has helped many families who have left behind dangerous circumstances in countries such as Iraq.

The organization helps with various services like housing, loans, health insurance and more.

The staff is well-equipped. Among the employees is Amed Alfarji, who worked as an interpreter for the U.S. Army in Iraq.

"I have a lot of friends that got killed because of their job," says Alfarji.

The group recognizes the difficulty in leaving behind friends, family and the culture refugees are used to.

The Court Street center is open to all refugees and immigrants.
