PROSPECT PARK SOUTH -

Police have arrested a man in connection with the Nov. 18 rape of a 59-year-old woman near Prospect Park.

Lucas Mowngly, 28, is facing a slew of charges that include rape, robbery, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment.

Investigators say the victim was walking along Parkside Avenue when Mowngly came up from behind and put her in a chokehold. They say he told her he had a gun and knife.

Investigators say he pushed her up against a van and tried to sexually assault her. When he was unable to, police say he pushed her behind a bench and raped her.

Last week, Borough President Eric Adams and City Councilman Mathieu Eugene held a news conference calling for an analysis of the area, asking for more street lights and surveillance cameras.
