Nearly four years after detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot and killed in their patrol cars in Brooklyn, efforts continued Thursday to keep their memories alive.
Fellow officers, family and friends were urged to buy a ticket or bring a toy to Lot 45 in Bushwick for a toy drive. Toys will be donated to a local school.
It was the second year the drive was held.
Detective Ramos was very involved in schools. Ramos' widow says this is how he would have wanted to be remembered.
Additional money raised will go to the Det. Rafael Ramos Foundation.
