A Sheepshead Bay restaurant says they are open for business despite suffering damage when a tractor-trailer drove into the side of the building Tuesday morning.
The manager of Brennan and Carr says a tractor-trailer crashed into the side of the restaurant on Nostrand Avenue and Avenue U.
Police say it happened after a freight van and the tractor-trailer collided. They say that the driver of the tractor-trailer was attempting to turn onto Avenue U from Nostrand Avenue while the driver in the freight van was turning onto Avenue U but from the bus lane.
The trailer has since been towed away.
Building inspectors tell News 12 Brooklyn that the truck struck the front of the building, causing minor damage. As a result, they issued a partial vacate order to just the front of the building.
The Department of Buildings says they conducted a structural stability inspection and found minor localized damage to the building. The DOB then ordered a partial vacate order to the front of the building, but the rest of the restaurant is still open for business.
Police and the DOB say the investigation is ongoing.
The manager of the restaurant says the main dining area is safe and operational and only the back room was damaged.
Officials say no one was hurt and no arrests have been made.
The restaurant, well-known for their roast beef sandwiches, has been in the neighborhood for 80 years.
