A warning about possible charity scams is being issued to Connecticut businesses.

The state's Department of Consumer Protection is asking businesses to verify whether charities are legitimate before allowing them to ask for donations on their property.

All charities soliciting in Connecticut must register with the Department of Consumer Protection.
