Police: Officers intervene during shooting, shoot suspect in Wakefield

Two people were shot in Wakefield Wednesday night, according to police.
The incident occurred at East 241st Street and White Plains Road just before 8 p.m.
Police say two officers were canvassing the area when they saw one man shooting at another man. They say the victim was hit in the arm.
The gunman then shot at the officers who returned fire and hit the suspect in the torso, according to police. 
The suspect was apprehended about 200 feet from the scene.
The two people who were shot were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals Jacobi. Their conditions are unknown.
Police later said during a press conference that the victim was believed to have been involved in a dispute on White Plains Road prior to the shooting.
Authorities say a gun was recovered from the scene.
The officers involved were taken to Montefiore Hospital to be treated for tinnitus.
