Two women were slashed in the face Monday after trying to pet a dog on the Bx2 bus.
Police say the two women, aged 20 and 22, are recovering from slash wounds to their face, head and arm. Investigators say they have arrested the passenger accused of slashing the women. Surveillance video appears to show Shekema Young going after the victims with a sharp object. She has been charged with assault and criminal possession of weapon.
Police say Young got off at the 149th Street and Morris Avenue stop.
She was last seen wearing all black carrying her small, white dog into a green SUV taxi that headed westbound on East 149th Street.
The victims, along with some other people on the bus, also fled at that same stop. The two women who were hurt ran to nearby NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln to seek help. No ambulance was necessary.
Police say that the two women are expected to be OK. They were released from the hospital Monday.
