Shops across Brooklyn are gearing up for this weekend's last-minute rush for gifts ahead of Christmas.

VIP Electronics on Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie says they have plenty of specials for those still looking for the perfect gifts for loved ones. The store offers big-screen TVs, radios and car accessories.

VIP is just one of several longtime stores on the parkway that is competing with online retailers this holiday season.

"It's a little challenging but we get through everything and we have a lot of good customers and a lot of old customers that come," says David Gomez, of VIP Electronics. "We explain what we sell. We help the customers when they can't install anything. That's really our biggest thing."

The VIP staff says their secret to staying afloat is offering the personal interaction and personal relationships that online retailers can't.
