Police: Deli worker injured during attempted robbery; suspect sought

Police say a deli worker was injured during an attempted robbery inside a Coney Island deli on Mermaid Avenue.

The incident happened at around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect inside Beach Deli.

According to police, the man walked in, pulled out a knife and told the worker behind the counter to hand over money. He then started punching a second worker over and over before running off empty handed.

The workers were not seriously hurt.

The suspect is described as being between 20 and 25 years old and about 5 feet, 10 inches.
