A Bronx man has made a hobby out of tweeting answers to frustrated subway riders in New York City before the city has a chance to respond.
Derrick Richard, 21, better known as @derrick_nyc, says he finds passenger tweets from stranded straphangers and lets them know the status of their trains.
For the past four years, he has been the go-to guy for the subway system.
“I know how people are with the subways and how they get delayed, and get mad and frustrated. I know how it feels," says Richard.

Although he isn't associated with the MTA, they gave Richard some recognition this past summer.
“They tweeted me saying they were fans of my work, with communicating their subway changes and delays of the subway system," he told News 12.
Richard hopes to one day become an MTA conductor. He says he’s been on every train line in the city except the Z. He voted the No. 5 train as the best in the Bronx.
