Brooklyn hot spots gear up for New Year’s celebrations

BROOKLYN -

Brooklyn residents and the rest of the city are gearing up to ring in 2019.

Coney Island is one popular location known for having a spirited New Year’s Eve celebration.

This year, the Coney Island celebration will kick off at 9 p.m. and will have fireworks, live entertainment and free rides on the carousel.

Grand Army Plaza and the Brooklyn Bridge are also popular locations for celebrations.

Some Brooklyn residents tell News 12 that staying local is more convenient than traveling to Times Square because it is cheaper and more intimate.

The forecast does predict rain and chilly conditions Monday night, with temps in the mid-40s.
