The family of a Flatbush businessman say they were hoping he'd be back in Brooklyn Sunday after he was arrested in Bangladesh for alleged crimes against humanity.

Mohamed Jubair went to Bangladesh in November, according to his daughter. She says her father often took trips to Bangladesh.

Jubair, a U.S. citizen, is being accused of crimes against humanity for participating in the Bangladeshi Liberation War of 1971. During the war, though, he was 13 years old. He will be turning 61 years old on Thursday.

His daughter says she's worried he's not getting the medical treatment he needs for bipolar disorder and diabetes.

Jubair's family says they warned him it wouldn't be a good time to visit Bangladesh due to elections in the country.

The family says they've been in touch with local congressional leaders in New York who have told them they can't do anything until the Bangladeshi government gives permission.

The penalty for the crimes Jubair is accused of is death by hanging.
