BAY RIDGE -

Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs is set to close Monday after more than four decades in Bay Ridge.

A sign posted at the restaurant thanked patrons for 40 years of friendship and great memories.

The franchise located on 86th Street has been feeding residents since the late 1970s, but was sold as part of a larger real estate development, according to the owners.

Longtime customers say they visited the store for one last meal. Sunday was the last day of business.

The franchise says it's exploring ways to maintain a presence in the community and hopes to reopen in a new location soon.
