Businesses gear up ahead of possible inclement weather this week

Hardware stores are welcoming a forecast of possible inclement weather later this week.

Flannery Hardware on East Tremont avenue says it can't wait for a wintry mix because business has been slow this season. Workers say shovels are ready and salt and calcium chloride are filled to the brim. Employees say customers have been trickling in for their snow preps.
Meteorologists are predicting a snow, sleet, rain combination for Thursday night into Friday morning - and the potential for another wintry blast late Saturday into Sunday.
The snow is bringing up bad memories of the snowstorm that crippled New York City in November. Residents say they hope the city is ready this time around.
After the mid-November storm, the mayor drafted a new snow plan that includes calling for a full storm response when forecasts predict only a couple of inches of snow.
The city also created a new plan for emergency escorts and routes for plows to avoid the gridlock problem during November’s storm.
News 12 has reached out to the mayors office and Department of Sanitation to find out what kind of preparations are being done in anticipation of the storms. The Department of Sanitation says it has been monitoring the weather and has salt spreaders prepped and ready to go.
